Day 2: Machame Gate to Machame Camp
Early in the morning, we will begin our journey from the hotel to Machame Gate (1,800m) for registration with the national park and to complete all formalities. We will then start our trek through the beautiful tropical rainforest trail up to Machame Camp (2,835m). The trek will take 5-7 hours, covering a distance of 11km.
Day 3: Machame Camp to Shira Camp
After breakfast, the trek begins steadily, leaving the forest behind and continuing up the trail on a steep rocky ridge through heather and moorland. We will cross the Shira Gorge to reach Shira Cave Camp, where we will overnight. The trek will take approximately 4-5 hours, covering a distance of 7km.
Day 4: Shira Cave to Barranco Camp
Today's walk is a gradual ascent towards the Lava Tower (4,600m) for acclimatization. We will have lunch at this point and then descend to Barranco Camp (3,900m) for an overnight stay. You will have the opportunity to see Mount Meru floating on the clouds and the unique plant Senecio Kilimanjaro in Barranco Valley. The trek will take 6-8 hours, covering a distance of 10km.
Day 5: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
Today's walk is relatively short for acclimatization, taking 4-5 hours and covering 6km. We will begin with a steep climb up Barranco Valley to the top of Barranco Wall (4,200m), then continue our trek twisting and turning, descending down Karanga Valley. From there, we will have a fairly steep climb to Karanga Camp (4,995m).
Day 6: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
From Karanga Camp (4,995m), we will continue walking over the alpine desert to Barafu Camp (4,672m). Here, you will have completed the southern circuit, and the views of Mawenzi and Kibo peaks will be spectacular. We will eat, rest, and prepare for the summit. At this point, you will have a pre-summit briefing and health checkup. The walk will take 4-5 hours, covering a distance of 4km.
Day 7: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp
At midnight, you will be woken up with tea and snacks and prepared for the summit. We will start trekking through heavy scree on a twisting and turning trail up to Stella Point, where you will witness a magnificent sunrise—an unforgettable moment. After resting and acclimatizing at Stella Point, we will continue on a gradual trail up to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the highest point on Kilimanjaro. After reaching the summit, we will descend quickly to the base camp for brunch and then continue down to Mweka Camp (3,100m) for an overnight stay. This trek will take approximately 12 hours, covering a distance of 17km.
